The doors will be opened wider this spring for local children to experience the performing arts – complete with an ogre on a quest and a talking donkey – through apartnership between the Lester Centre of the Arts and Trigon Pacific Terminals Ltd.
Shrek the Musical is this year’s community musical production at the Lester Centre, and with funding from Trigon, up to 350 free tickets will be available for children 12 and under for the matinee performance.
“Trigon’s partnership with the Lester Center helps to bring quality entertainment to Prince Rupert,” said terminal President, Craig Olley. “Supporting the Lester Center means more of our youngest residents can now experience to the joys of live theatre – through a fantastic production that has so much humour and heart.”
The Trigon-sponsored performance will take place at 2 pm on Saturday, April 12, and tickets will need to be secured in advance. If you would like to attend, please email info@lestercentre.ca, specifying the number of children’s tickets you would like to reserve, and the number of accompanying adults in your group. All children will need to be accompanied by at least one adult.
Confirmations will be provided by return email, along with payment instructions for the adult tickets ($30 each). Tickets will be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will be no assigned seating at the matinee, so all attendees are encouraged to be at the theatre when the doors open at 1:30 pm.
“We’reexcited for this show, and appreciate Trigon’s ongoing support to help create a vibrant and accessible cultural scene here in Prince Rupert,” said Chris Armstrong, General Manager of the Lester Centre. “Shrek the Musical is a great show – wholesome and fun with just the right amount of chaos – that we know will be a big hit with everyone who attends.”
